L. Dubois, Painting Of A Mythological Scene Based On Corot: "one Morning, The Dance Of The Nymphs"
Artist: L. Dubois Limoges ( D'après Corot )
A beautiful painting by L. Dubois, based on a painting by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot (1796–1875) titled “A Morning, The Dance of the Nymphs,” depicting a mythological scene of nymphs dancing in a clearing (this painting is currently housed at the Musée d’Orsay; it was acquired by the French government around the 1850s).
The painting we are offering is signed in the lower right corner by L. Dubois and monogrammed “MOF” for “Meilleur Ouvrier de France.”
L. Dubois was also a painter and decorator of porcelain and a master enameler. He received the Meilleur Ouvrier de France medal in his category for the excellence of his work.
Our oil on canvas is sold in a frame adorned with gilded stucco moldings.
We sell other oil-on-canvas works and porcelain paintings by this artist in our gallery, such as the large painting depicting the Corot site near Saint-Junien in Limousin. This site was named in honor of Camille Corot, who drew much inspiration from this location in the 1950s.
