Panetière Provençale In Walnut 18th Century, Provençal Furniture
Magnificent solid walnut Provençal paniniere opening on the front with a small leaf decorated with a flat jolinoeud, a wheat sheaf and oak leaves.
The lower crosspiece is heavily scrolled and features a decoration composed of a two-handled tureen framed by flowering stems.
The top crosspiece is also heavily scrolled and features a floral basket framed by the same flowering stems as the bottom crosspiece.
The front and sides feature large spindles in place of the walls.
The four upright feet are also turned into balusters and rest on four scrolls.
The whole of our piece of furniture is surmounted by seven Panache bobèches .
This piece of furniture, made in the 18th century by a Maitre Fustier (Provencal carpenter), was used to store and preserve bread, and was intended to be hung on the wall above the kneading trough.
