Louis XIII Style Wardrobe In Solid Walnut With Diamond-point Inlay, 2 Doors And 1 Drawer In The Cabinet

A very fine Louis XIII armoire from the late 17th to early 18th century, made of solid walnut and composed of three superimposed sections. The lower section rests on four large-diameter ball feet, surmounted by prominent molding. This section opens at the front with a large transverse drawer fitted with two wrought-iron handles and a lock that uses the same key as the two doors. It is flanked by two small consoles decorated with foliage. Molding work secures the central section when it is in position. The second section opens with two large doors, each divided into three panels decorated with strong diamond points and framed by thick moldings. Its two sides are each decorated with two equal sections composed of thick, flat-plank panels set within heavily molded frames. They are also separated by an entablature molding. The interior is fitted with three shelves, the lock works perfectly, and the left door closes with two pull handles (see photo). The third section, composed of the pediment and cornice, crowns the other two sections. Our piece is in remarkable condition, with high-quality wood and a luminous patina. Note a slight wear on the rear left corner of the cornice (see last photo). A truly exceptional piece of furniture, crafted with superb workmanship.
