Antique Blue-and-white Delft Earthenware Butter Dish – 18th Century

A charming antique butter dish made of blue-and-white Delftware, dating from the 18th century.
The low, circular body is hand-painted with a rich design of stylized flowers and foliage in various shades of blue. The two large handles are adorned with blue stripes and dots. The floral design continues all around the pot.
The shape and painted decoration of the handles bear similarities to a Delft butter dish in the Rijksmuseum’s collection, dated to around 1750–1780. The floral decoration is different. This example bears no maker’s mark.

The pot is offered without a lid. It shows signs of use and age, with small chips of glaze on the rims and handles. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
