African Spear With A Long Tip, Drc, 19th Century

This African spear, like another one I am listing for sale, comes from the DRC, formerly Zaire, formerly the Belgian Congo.
It was brought back at the end of the 19th century, which corresponds to the golden age of blacksmithing in Central Africa, before the use of imported Western iron caused traditional blacksmithing techniques to decline. In this case, it is indeed steel produced by hand from local iron ore.
Precisely identifying the ethnic groups that manufactured these weapons and/or who used them remains a delicate issue. Some ethnic groups engaged in trade, and the exchange of goods took place along the rivers. Based on cross-referencing, it appears that this weapon can be attributed to north eastern Zaire, probably to the Ngbandi people, although the Lokele people also use spears whose shafts feature these bulges and a hole on one side of the blade.  However, the coiling of the iron strips would suggest the work of the Ngbandi people.
SPEAR BLADE: It consists of a very long tip with intricate hammered detailing, featuring a central ridge, two hollow flanks, and a beveled cutting edge. One-quarter of the way down the point, there is a hole on one side, which experts believe is a tribal mark. This point is followed by a very long socket attached to the shaft by a nail, surrounded by a ring of holes.
Length of the point alone: 45.5 cm; point and socket:81 cm
SHAFT: It is made of hardwood and features a central bulge. Two coils of iron strip sabove the bulge, and a long coil of iron strip along the last 25 cm of the shaft.
This weapon is of unquestionable authenticity and antique value.
