éric Kengen (1952–) Belgian School

Éric Kengen is a Belgian artist born in Brussels in 1952.
He is a fine example of a representative of figurative painting.
His work focuses on the human figure, a double of himself, standing alone before the viewers.
A figure with a solemn face, bald, with a prominent nose, and a body often sketched in outline, presenting his arms and hands in a gesture of either attraction or rejection toward the other.
Kengen’s work serves as the ideal stage for a ballet of emotional and sensual life.
He works equally well with acrylic paint and gouache on a variety of formats, ranging from intimate pieces to very large-scale murals.
He was faithfully represented in the 1980s by Galerie Zedes in Brussels.
The work on display is a mixed-media piece on paper depicting his iconic subject—the artist’s double—who is smiling here, which is uncommon in his body of work.
This piece is beautifully and professionally framed, in a comfortable and decorative size.
