Curved Louis XV-style Secretary Desk With Floral Marquetry – Marble – Secret Compartment
A very beautiful Louis XV-style drop-leaf secretary desk, featuring an elegant, curved front entirely decorated with rich marquetry of flowers and foliage.
The piece is crafted from precious wood arranged in a curly pattern, with a large floral marquetry composition extending across the drop-leaf top as well as the two doors of the lower section.
The various wood tones create a particularly refined design.
It is topped with a molded marble top in pinkish, veined tones.
The side posts are adorned with gilded bronze fittings, which are also found on the legs and around the keyhole.
The hinged lid reveals a particularly well-organized interior featuring several small drawers, compartments, and storage spaces.
The writing surface is trimmed with red leather, accented by a gold border.
An interesting and uncommon feature: a secret compartment is hidden beneath the leather writing surface, accessible by lifting the inner part of the top.
The lower section opens via two doors providing access to a storage space with a shelf.
A decorative and functional piece of furniture that makes a striking impression thanks to its abundant marquetry, curved forms, and gilded bronze trim.
