Authentic Louis XIII-era Burgundian chest in solid walnut, dating from the 17th century.
With a simple and elegant rectangular shape, it rests on flattened ball feet and features beautiful moldings around the edges of the lid and base.
The front is adorned with its original lock, featuring a cut-out wrought-iron insert.
The single-piece lid is reinforced on the inside by three long original wrought-iron hinges.
The interior retains its side storage compartment (for documents or valuables), a characteristic feature of antique regional chests.
The construction, featuring large assembled panels and visible dovetail joints, reflects traditional 17th-century craftsmanship.
The walnut wood has developed a beautiful honey-brown patina over the centuries.
This type of chest was used both for storing linens and for transporting and safeguarding valuables in Burgundian mansions.
