Mahogany File Cabinet / Filing Cabinet – 20th Century
Elegant antique mahogany filing cabinet, tall and narrow in shape, opening at the front with ten stacked drawers.
Each drawer is fitted with two small circular brass pull knobs featuring concentric decoration. The front is framed by two straight, molded side posts, while the upper section is accentuated by an overhanging cornice with stepped moldings. The entire piece rests on a solid base.
An interesting feature is that the entire front is mounted on side hinges and can open like a door, while keeping the various drawers independent. This ingenious design is characteristic of storage furniture intended for documents, archives, or collections.
The piece features a beautiful mahogany-brown patina, with traces and small signs of wear that give it its unique character.
