This work is particularly interesting for its highly graphic style. Lacoux depicts a scene in a working-class café, bringing together several figures around a table. In the foreground, an accordionist provides musical accompaniment while a woman smokes, surrounded by several male figures. Glasses, a bottle, and a pitcher define the table and accentuate the bistro atmosphere.

The technique combines black ink with highlights in pencil or red pigment on paper left largely exposed. The drawing is deliberately incisive: angular faces, strongly defined hands, and simplified silhouettes. Lacoux does not seek photographic likeness but rather expression and character.

The composition is particularly successful. The figures occupy almost the entire surface and form a very dense arrangement, while the large central lampshade serves as a focal point around which the group is organized.

Here we find an aesthetic reminiscent of mid-20th-century illustrative drawing and caricature, with a touch of the atmosphere found in scenes of cafés and popular dances.
