A very lovely portrait of a small, handsome boy, dressed quite luxuriously. He has a beautiful face, his head turned to the right, with a lively, bright gaze. He wears a large lace collar and matching cuffs, in the style of the 17th century. A cross is held in place by a blue ribbon around his neck, and a large gold chain may be holding a medal or decoration. The right hand is painted with great finesse, while the left hand, holding a sort of handkerchief, is only roughly sketched. The canvas is original, as is the frame, which appears to be truly antique. Beautiful frame made of wood gilded with gold leaf, with some flaking of the gilding.
