Octagonal Majolica Dish From Savona, 18th Century, In Perfect Condition.
A very interesting octagonal majolica dish from Savona. The rim is painted in a purple faux-marble pattern with white veins. The design, which is very classical, depicts a house and a ruined tower on the left, with an aqueduct extending from the base of the building. A large, leafy shrub is depicted in the center, set against a background of deep blue clouds. On the right, the outline of a tree is visible. The reverse, white with a slight bluish tint, is decorated with blue brushstrokes forming arabesque-like patterns. This design is frequently found on the backs of majolica pieces from this region.
