Trompe-l'oeil Depicting A Strand Of Oats And A Ribbon On Wood, 20th Century.

A playful trompe-l'œil depicting an oat stalk held by a ribbon, along which a few ants are scurrying. Very natural cast shadows, including those of the ants.
The painting is mounted on natural wood with a prominent knot on the left. Interior faux frame painted dark brown. A few scratches on the background; likely the original solid wood frame.
France, circa 1980–90.
