Circa 1600. Late Elizabethan portrait of Lady Arabella Stuart in court attire. Oil on panel. Rare and remarkable youthful study of Lady Stuart, potential successor to Elizabeth I, dressed in a red and white gown, elaborate lace collar and jewels, holding a white rose in her hand. Presented in a hand-carved oak frame, with the model's name in gold lettering at the base. At top right are the coat of arms and the family name. In good overall condition, despite slight surface instability, this painting could be enhanced. A restoration estimate can be drawn up prior to dispatch.
