Oil On Board, Francis I And Charles V, After Bonnington. 19th Century.
Interesting oil on board, based on the famous painting by Bonnington, circa 1827. Francis 1 debates with Charles V, in the presence of his mistress, the Duchess of Etampes.
The original of this painting is in the Louvre. It is slightly larger than the one shown here. Powerful, thick brushstrokes. Very faithful to the original. Very good condition, with a few very small losses of material around the edges, related to the frame (gone). Two small hemispherical holes on the sides, whose use is unclear.
