A classic tavern scene: the middle-aged man is laughing heartily. The scene is lit from the left; note the white light reflections on the pitcher. The hands are well rendered.
A charming scene, characteristic of 17th-century Flemish art, which continued to be painted into the 18th century. Oak panel, with a collector’s label in the upper left corner on the back.
