Rare Louis XV-era Armchair
A beautiful Louis XV-era armchair made of molded and carved wood, refinished in white and gold.
The slightly curved, violin-shaped backrest features a carved knob at the top resting on leaves, which also appear on the shoulders.
Its armrests with cuffs rest on whip-shaped legs.
The seat is supported by curved legs carved with acanthus leaves. The apron, like the backrest, is carved with an elegant button at its center surrounded by leaves.
The seat is upholstered in blue damask with scroll and volute motifs. The joinery is in very good condition and shows no play.
This is a work of very fine quality with remarkable proportions. The violin-shaped backrest and the subtle mastery of lines and curves lend this chair a rare elegance and a certain grace. It is a true testament to the refinement of the Louis XV era.
