Blue Turquin Marble Offal Box - Regency Period, 18th Century

A rare viscera box made of turquoise blue marble, created during the Regency period in the early 17th century.

With a slightly curved “tomb-like” shape, it features elegant and dynamic architecture characteristic of the Regency style. Its front is carved with a central shell flanked by acanthus leaves, while the sides are also adorned with carved decoration.

Opening the lid reveals two deep circular cavities carved into the thickness of the marble.

The beautiful bluish-gray color of the “turquin” blue, enlivened by natural veining, enhances the precious and unique character of this object.

The lid was remade in the 19th century. The hinges have not been preserved. The original lock is still present, but its key is missing.

In good overall condition, with the marks and irregularities inherent to its age.

A particularly rare piece, both decorative and mysterious, intended for collectors of unusual objects, antique marbles, and cabinets of curiosities.
