Large Travel Triptych Icon: Christ, Mary, And St. John, Enameled Bronze, 19th-century Russia, Deisis

Large Russian travel triptych made of bronze and enameled in four colors (light blue, dark blue, white, and black).

Old Believer school, dating from the first half of the 19th century.
It consists of three panels that allow it to be folded up and carried. This type of “heavy” casting is uncommon.

This iconographic subject is called the Deesis or Intercession. In the center is Christ the “Almighty" blessing, flanked on the left by the Virgin Mary and on the right by Saint John the Baptist. Mary and John, in prayer, intercede with Christ to save humanity.

In very good overall condition with a beautiful patina. A few small chips in the enamel.
