Born in 1921, Juliane Hervé came from a family of renowned painters. First her father, Jules Hervé-Mathé (1868-1953), then her cousin, Jules Hervé (1887-1981). She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From the late 1940s onward, she exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, of which she was a member.
