Jean-Pol SOUDAN is a painter, draftsman, designer, and architect. He studied architecture at the Academies of Tournai (1968-70), London (1972-73), Lille (1973-74), and Brussels (1974-76). He began with figurative works inspired by the Flemish Ardennes and the coastline. He used symbolic elements. He evolved towards a geometric figuration with rich tones, applying paint decisively. He then embraced a mystical, cosmic, and linear constructivism, reflecting his great admiration for Eastern culture and philosophies. He works with a knife and employs scraping techniques that give his style its originality.
