Polychrome Porcelain Box With Gilded Brass Mountings, Attributed To Samson, 19th Century

An original polychrome porcelain box shaped like a car, resting on an elegant four-wheeled gilded brass base and featuring a long drawbar.

The box, made entirely of porcelain and glazed on the inside, features rich hand-painted decoration. The various sides are adorned with polychrome bouquets of flowers and scenes of children by the sea, with sailboats on the horizon.

The roof-shaped lid is also decorated with flowers and prominent gilded motifs.

The finely crafted gilded brass frame highlights the box’s contours and forms the axles, the four wheels, the platform, and the drawbar.

The object bears a blue-painted mark on the underside of the base featuring an “S” accompanied by two crossed lines, a mark similar to those used by the Samson Company for some of its pieces in the style of the great European manufacturers.

A French piece from the second half of the 19th century, attributed to the Samson Company, Paris.

A beautiful curiosity, particularly decorative due to its unusual carriage shape, the richness of its polychrome decoration, and its mount.

In good overall condition, with some wear and signs of age visible in the photographs.
