Pair Of Large Candlesticks In Patinated Bronze, Italy, Tuscany, 17th Century.
Pair of large 17th-century bronze candlesticks, turned on a lathe and patinated.
Total height: 55 CM.
A very beautiful design typical of mid-17th-century Italian craftsmanship, particularly from the Florence region in Tuscany.
The wide, stepped circular base (diameter 15 cm) supports a turned plinth shaped like a “spool,” hence the Italian name “Rochetto” for this type of model, which is very characteristic of Tuscany in the very early Baroque period. The shaft consists of several ringed balusters that support a wide cup and the original wrought-iron spindle.
The main baluster on the shaft of each of the two candlesticks is engraved with three initials—"O," "P," and "A"—most likely the mark of the patron....
In superb original condition and with a beautiful antique patina.
Quite rare to find in this size and as a pair, especially in such excellent, entirely original condition.
Tuscan craftsmanship dating from the mid-17th century.
Heavy weight of approximately 10 kg without packaging.
Note: Shipping to France is available via Colissimo with tracking and signature upon delivery: 60 euros. Shipping to other destinations available upon request.
