A large statue display case serving as a reliquary, carved and painted from solid wood.
Carved from a single block of walnut, this large display case exhibits all the stylistic characteristics of the mid-17th century, still at the transition between the LXIII and LXIV styles.
With powerful, highly architectural lines, it features a central niche whose opening is encircled by an elliptical medallion, designed to house a few relics.
Vigorous, precise, and detailed carving on three sides, with a beautiful original polychrome patina and overall in excellent condition.
A truly spectacular display piece, of obvious decorative interest, which will once again showcase a large piece of religious (or other!) statuary. The top shelf, designed to hold the statue, measures 33 x 20 cm across the axis....
Work dating from the mid-17th century.
