Antique Column On A Base, Made Of Egyptian Onyx/alabaster Marble, Italy, Early 19th Century Or Earlier
Beautiful antique column, very slightly tapered, made of Egyptian alabaster, a material also known as oriental alabaster or onyx marble, prized since antiquity for its beautiful network of ribbon-like veins on a light background. In good overall condition and with a lovely matte patina, the column is presented (removably) on a modern black marble base with an iron axle. Certainly an element of interior architecture, this lovely column is a beautiful decorative object with a strong and refined presence that can easily be integrated into all types of decor, from the most classic, such as a cabinet of curiosities, to the most minimalist and contemporary. Italy, first half of the 19th century or earlier. NB/ Heavy and fragile item, no shipping. Collection in person or delivery by carrier at the buyer's choice and expense.
