Pastel Portrait Of A Woman, In A Gilded Oval Frame – Late 19th / Early 20th Century
Pastel portrait of a woman, mounted under glass in an antique oval gilded wooden frame with a beaded frieze.
The subject is depicted in a bust portrait, in a style inspired by the 18th century, with powdered hair adorned with flowers, a ribbon, and a bouquet of roses. The delicate rendering of the face, the fabrics, and the flowers lends the work a particularly decorative quality.
The work is preserved in an antique oval gilded frame which features a beautiful gilded patina and some signs of wear. The reverse bears an old label from the Atelier d’Encadrements Imberti in Bordeaux, located on Cours de l’Intendance and Rue de Grassi, with a reference to a showroom on Rue Porte-Dijeaux.
This label documents the history of the frame but does not constitute the artist’s signature.
