Set Of Six Porcelain Plates From The Manufacture De Monsieur (clignancourt), Louis XVI Period
An elegant set of six hard-paste porcelain dinner plates from Paris, produced by the prestigious Clignancourt Manufactory, known as the “Manufacture de Monsieur ” (under the patronage of Louis-Stanislas-Xavier, Count of Provence, brother of King Louis XVI).
Each piece features the famous and poetic “aux barbeaux” (cornflowers) design, a pastoral motif emblematic of the end of the Ancien Régime and particularly cherished by Queen Marie Antoinette. The bowl and handle are adorned with a delicate scattering of hand-painted polychrome cornflowers, while the rim is highlighted by an interlaced crown-shaped foliage frieze, enhanced with fine gold lines. The rim is accented with a fine gilded border.
A set of great finesse in its execution, a perfect testament to the art of the table and the refinement of late 18th-century Parisian porcelain.
