Plate - Manufacture Of The Duke Of Angoulême - Paris Porcelain - 18th Century
Artist: Manufacture Du Duc D'angouleme
A flat, circular plate with a scalloped rim. Hard-paste porcelain. White ground with polychrome decoration. The rim is adorned with a rich, compartmentalized design, alternating reserves filled with flowering branches, geometric motifs, and stylized cartouches, embellished with friezes of chains, pearls, and trelliswork, all enhanced with gold lines. At the bottom of the bowl, a circular medallion surrounded by a wide gold line, encircled by a regular scattering of small stylized flowers in gold monochrome, punctuated with polychrome dots in blue, red, green, and purple. Gold line on the rim. Diameter 23.8 cm, PERFECT CONDITION - Note: small marks on the rim on the reverse, on the white background, 18th century. This plate, although unmarked, is easily attributable to the manufactory of the Duke of Angoulême (Dihl and Guérhard). It belongs to one of the most famous services produced by this factory, some pieces of which are reproduced in several reference works. Comparable models can be found in particular in the book: Faïences et porcelaines de Paris, XVIIIᵉ et XIXᵉ siècles, by Régine de Plinval de Guillebon, Éditions Faton, 1995 - Page 144 - No. 128 - (see photos).
