"Set Of “perfumer Pile” (shine Mortars) In Porcelain – France – 19th Century"
Three small, tulip-shaped, opaque white porcelain containers (wide, flared lip, short, stable foot), intended for the work surface of hairdressers and perfumers. Beautiful, homogeneous set with legible shade indications. Two pieces have a printed paper label "BROWN", and the central piece, labeled "CHATAIN" (printed cartridge with double blue line), retains its original protective cap made of oiled paper and folded in an accordion, a rare element and evocative of use. These "piles" (or makeup mortars) were used to prepare and keep ready makeups and dyes (brown, chestnut), ointments or colored pastes for hair, mustaches, eyebrows... They were mixed with a spatula rather than a pestle. The porcelain, smooth and non-porous, does not alter odors or pigments and is easy to clean, which is why it is used in perfumery. Decorative accessories popular for apothecary, hygiene or beauty display cases 19th century. Dimensions: Height. 4.3 cm - Diam. 5.3 cm, Condition(s): PERFECT CONDITION, Period: 2nd HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY. RARE SET
