"litron" Jug And Its Lid In Paris Porcelain - 18th Century
Cylindrical jug called a litron, resting on a small heel, fitted with a slightly curved spout and a flattened side handle. The flat lid, with a high rim, is topped with a fully gilded olive-shaped grip. Polychrome decoration on a white background of an upper band adorned with a frieze alternating stylized rosettes in red medallions and blue flowers on a gilded background with rocaille-style foliage motifs. This band is interrupted by two large oval reserves framed by rocaille-style gilded garlands, each containing a bouquet of pansies. On the body, foliage and pansies are sown. Gold highlights highlight the edges of the spout, the handle, as well as the edges of the lid. Gold threads on the edges.
