18th-century Regency-style Chest Of Drawers
Regency-era chest of drawers
Elegant Regency-era chest of drawers, dating from the early 18th century.
With a slightly curved front, it features three wide drawers arranged in three rows. It is richly veneered with violet wood in a curly pattern and geometric motifs, which also appear on the sides.
Beautiful gilded bronze ornamentation includes pull handles, keyholes, and moldings highlighting the crossbars and front stiles.
It rests on four small legs and is topped by a thick, molded marble top in shades of orange-red, gray, and white.
The frame, backs, and drawers are made of antique softwood. Locks are present.
In good overall condition considering its age. Signs of use, small cracks, slight lifting, and previous restorations to the veneer. Wear and discoloration on the gilding of the bronze fittings. The marble shows visible signs of previous restoration.
