Pair Of Fischel Bentwood Armchairs – Early 20th Century – Fully Restored
An elegant pair of bentwood armchairs by D. G. Fischel & Söhne, each bearing its original “FISCHEL” label beneath the seat.
The armchairs have undergone a complete restoration, including both the frames and upholstery. They have been reupholstered in a contemporary fabric featuring a one-of-a-kind design, created specifically for this pair. Its graphic pattern and shades of pink, burgundy, beige and brown provide a contemporary contrast to the elegant lines of the bentwood.
D. G. Fischel & Söhne was founded around 1870 in Niemes, Bohemia, by Alexander and Gustav Fischel. Alexander Fischel had previously gained experience in the manufacture of bentwood furniture at Thonet. The company was established as Thonet's patents were expiring and soon became one of Europe's leading manufacturers of bentwood furniture, developing its own designs and distinctive identity alongside Thonet.
