A beautiful, figurative, hand-knotted Persian rug, likely made in Isfahan around the mid-20th century.

The central field depicts an elegant court scene in a Persian garden, featuring five figures in traditional costumes amid flowering trees, birds, fruit, and lush vegetation. The composition follows the tradition of pictorial Persian rugs inspired by miniatures and classical Iranian poetry.

The central design is surrounded by several particularly rich borders, featuring lions, gazelles, birds, and mythical creatures amidst floral motifs.

The knotting is exceptionally fine, particularly visible on the reverse, allowing for great precision in the rendering of faces, clothing, animals, and vegetation.

Good overall condition. Some irregularities and wear on the fringes, visible in the photographs.
