Charles Schneider (1881–1953) – Large Art Deco Glass Ewer – Circa 1922–1925

Artist: Schneider

An impressive Art Deco glass ewer by Charles Schneider (1881–1953), made at the Verreries Schneider in Épinay-sur-Seine, France, circa 1922–1925.

With a remarkable height of 47 cm, this elegant piece is distinguished by its particularly slender silhouette, rising from a wide circular base to a finely tapered body, extended by a gracefully elongated, hot-formed spout.

This refined combination of colors, transparency, and hot-worked glass decorations is characteristic of Charles Schneider’s artistic output during the early Art Deco period. His creations, developed alongside his brother Ernest at the Verreries Schneider, gained international renown thanks to their innovative color combinations, experimental glassworking techniques, and resolutely modern forms.

Its exceptional height, the harmony of its proportions, and its remarkable attached handle make this ewer a particularly decorative example of the Verreries Schneider’s craftsmanship.

Signature: Signed on the base.
