Louis XIII Sideboard, Made Of Walnut, 17th-century
Louis XIII sideboard in walnut – 17th century
Beautiful Louis XIII sideboard in walnut, from the 17th century, featuring a sturdy and particularly decorative design.
The upper section features three drawers, including two large, richly molded side drawers framing a small central drawer. The lower section opens with two doors featuring heavily molded panels, adorned with a remarkable geometric diamond-point motif, typical of the Louis XIII decorative style.
The front is punctuated by prominent moldings that give the piece a great deal of depth. The overhanging top is also accentuated by several molded projections.
The sideboard rests on four turned legs with flattened ball feet. The interior, which offers ample storage space, features a single shelf. Note the period metalwork, the traditional joinery, and the back panel constructed of wide planks.
The walnut has a very beautiful, warm, and deep antique patina. This piece has retained the marks and irregularities characteristic of its age, which fully contribute to its authenticity and character.
