18th Century Regency Style Lyonnaise Château Armoire "Exceptional Regency Style Armoire" "Majestic Lyonnaise "Formal" Armoire from the Regency period (1715/1723), made of walnut wood, with beautiful, highly contrasting motifs. It opens with two doors with large frames carved with foliage, flowers, and shells in high relief. The upper rail is richly carved with rocaille plant motifs on a grid background, as well as spandrels in the corners, framing a spectacular shell, also adorned with foliage, flowers, and plants. The arched cornice with a gendarme's hat shape is decorated with a gadroon, which further embellishes it, as well as two sculptures on either side. A central inverted shell resting on a basket, and another inverted shell at the bottom. Rounded uprights with helmeted warrior heads in the central section. This extraordinary castle armoire retains all its original ironwork, including: its keyhole escutcheon, double-bolt lock, two interior cremone bolts, and hinges, as well as its original wrought-iron key with a triangular cross-section, typical of Lyon armoires. This type of furniture was once a mark of prestige and nobility in the wealthiest French families.
