Bookcase, Display Cabinet, Louis XV Style, Made Of Walnut, 18th-century
Louis XV Display Bookcase in Walnut – 18th Century
Beautiful Louis XV display bookcase in solid walnut, dating from the 18th century, featuring an elegant front with two glass-paned doors.
The two doors are particularly decorative: their upper sections are largely glazed and accented with scroll-moldings featuring curves and spirals, while the lower sections feature beautiful molded panels with the dynamic design characteristic of the Louis XV style.
The front is framed by molded stiles and crowned by a substantial cornice with stepped sections, giving the piece a striking presence. The doors retain their original lock plates made of cut and worked metal.
The interior offers ample storage space thanks to its numerous wooden shelves, allowing this piece to be used both as a bookcase and as a display cabinet for a collection, tableware, or objets d’art.
The lower section features a large drawer that spans the entire width, with a heavily molded front and a pendant handle.
Also noteworthy is the beautiful traditional construction: paneled sides, a back composed of wide, joined wooden planks, harmonious proportions, and the walnut’s lovely, warm patina acquired over the centuries.
An authentic and decorative piece of furniture, offering both the charm of an 18th-century Louis XV bookcase and the practicality of a display case that showcases its contents.
