Louis XIII-style Walnut Coffee Table, Circa 1900
Louis XIII-style walnut coffee table – Circa 1900
A very beautiful Louis XIII-style walnut coffee table, circa 1900, featuring remarkable craftsmanship and joinery.
With elegant and balanced proportions, this table features a beautiful rectangular walnut top that extends slightly beyond the legs and is molded around the edges. The wood has a lovely, warm, and natural patina.
The intricately carved apron is adorned with scrolled crossbars and opens to reveal three drawers, providing ample storage while maintaining the piece’s overall elegance.
It rests on four exquisite turned legs, richly carved and joined at the base by a substantial X-shaped brace with strongly curved lines. This base is one of the table’s most decorative features and gives it its distinctive Louis XIII style.
The construction is of very high quality, crafted using traditional joinery techniques with visible dowel joints. The care taken in the walnut woodworking, the turned elements, the moldings, and the joints attests to a particularly meticulous craftsmanship.
An elegant, sturdy, and decorative table that can be used as a coffee table, small work table, or side table. Its dimensions allow it to fit easily into a living room, library, or entryway.
