The soldiers of the Dromedary Regiment, created by Bonaparte in Egypt in 1799, generally carried a light cavalry or hussar saber (Model 1776 or 1777).
Brass mountings. Single-branch guard. Long-tailed cap. Wooden handle wrapped in black waxed calfskin. Guard stamped “À VIENNE.”
Curved, hollow-edged blade signed “À VIENNE” on the back, identical to the guard. Length 87.5 cm, width at the heel 3.5 cm.
Scabbard typical of the Dromadaire Squadron; made of wood covered with black waxed calfskin, featuring two red copper fittings with cut-out edges; red copper studs and rings.
Very good condition; a red copper disc on the pommel, matching the scabbard fittings.
