Large, Framed Original Drawing: “passenger Locomotive With 4 Coupled Wheels, 1862.”

Beautiful original framed drawing. Gouache and watercolor. 49 x 94.7 cm (image size), in a frame measuring 59 x 105 cm. A few scratches on the frame.

Signed lower right: “L. Morillon, son of a mechanic, in Suresnes, August 25, 1862.” Scale of 1:10.

Locomotive of the Compagnie des Chemins de fer de l’Ouest (marked “Ouest 329” on the tender). Markings on the frame: “No. 48, Ernest Goüin, Paris,” “329,” and “Épernon.” Ernest Goüin was a leading 19th-century locomotive builder who established his business in Batignolles in 1846. Épernon is the name of a town in the Eure-et-Loir department and, more importantly, a station on the Paris–Chartres line.

A beautiful drawing with vivid colors and great technical precision.
