Interesting study of a soldier of the armies of the Orient, probably preparatory to a large painting representing the campaigns carried out by the French army in the middle of the 19th century. Hippolyte Bellangé (1800-1866) is an artist well known for his military representations, he received many orders from the Emperor Napoleon III.
