"1912. Three-volume Catalog Of The Jacques Doucet Sale"
The sale of the collections of the couturier Jacques Doucet (1853-1929) was an unprecedented cultural event, dubbed the sale of the century at the time. Patiently assembled, it was a collection of 18th century works of art, including furniture, drawings, sculptures and paintings, of exceptional provenance and by exceptional authors, which was dispersed. The financial result was exceptional, almost 14 million francs before 1914. A three-volume catalogue was produced with numerous illustrations and remarkably carefully written notes. From this sale Jacques Doucet devoted himself to the art of his time and created an interior which was also a reference of art deco. The three volumes are presented in good condition (some stains on the covers but perfect interiors), the original slipcase is missing. It is a remarkable document on a collection, the objects of which are today often in the greatest museums in the world, or prestigious private collections.
