"Marquetry Work Box, Early 18th Century, Work From Eastern France "
Ladies and gentlemen, to keep your spools of thread safe, here is a rare late 17th or early 18th century work box, in walnut and rosewood marquetry decorated with wind roses, and adorned on the back with an annunciation scene. You will stick the needles on a ball on the lid. A pious image must have been placed under glass in the reserve under the lid. But above all you will be able to hide your gallant letters in secret drawers, hidden behind a retractable side. The annunciation then takes on a whole other meaning, not devoid of humor....The lock is missing, otherwise very good condition.
