Brass Set Square Signed Cadot 1744 – 18th-century Scientific Instrument
A rare and beautiful brass workshop square, signed and dated “Cadot 1744.”
Michel Cadot (active 1718–c. 1753), a Parisian instrument maker, son-in-law and successor to Henry Macquart, was established on the Quai de l’Horloge under the sign “à l’Astrolabe.” A rare maker of whom only a few instruments are known (sun dials, graphometers, theodolites, etc.).

Condition: Good overall condition for its age. Beautiful original patina, some traces of oxidation and period wear (see photos). No visible restoration.
A very fine collector’s item for enthusiasts of scientific instruments, antique joinery, or 18th-century technical objects. Signature and date are perfectly legible.
