Napoleon III Boulle Marquetry Display Cabinet-bookcase, France, 19th Century
Elegant Napoleon III period two-door display cabinet-bookcase, made of ebonized and lacquered wood, decorated with Boulle-style marquetry and brass inlay forming framed reserves.
The uprights are decorated with fluting and capitals at their ends. The upper section is adorned with volutes and plain garlands.
The lower sections of the doors feature a decoration of flower-filled cassolettes, framed by symmetrical arabesques, volutes and vegetal scrolls inspired by the Baroque style.
The cabinet retains its three removable shelves on adjustable shelf supports.
