A Monumental Pair Of Lamps Made Of Gilded Bronze And Siena Marble, Lerolle Frères, Paris, 1867
Artist: Lerolle Freres
An impressive pair of ornate lamps in finely chiseled and gilded bronze, resting on majestic Sienese marble vases with rich honey tones and natural veining, mounted on green Alpine marble bases.
These lamps were commissioned around 1867 by Lerolle Frères, renowned Parisian bronze casters during the Second Empire, for a grand palazzo belonging to the Oreglia d’Isola family, an ancient family of the Piedmontese nobility.
The quality of the chiseling, the elegance of the proportions, and the monumental scale of the ensemble perfectly illustrate the taste of the grand aristocratic residences of the second half of the 19th century.
The lamps have been fitted with new electrical wiring, installed in a manner that respects their original aesthetic, allowing for daily use without altering their historical character.
