Marius Giuge, Ceramic Coffee Set From Vallauris, 20th Century
Glazed ceramic coffee set consisting of a coffee pot, a sugar bowl, a milk jug, and 5 cups. The speckled design, rendered in shades of beige and brown, is accented with subtle touches of green. The twisted handles highlight the originality of this design.
Stamp on the back of the saucers: “MARIUS GIUGE / ARTISAN POTIER / VALLAURIS”
“VALLAURIS” mark on the back of the coffee pot, sugar bowl, and milk jug.
Marius Giuge (1909–1980) was a French ceramicist active in Vallauris from the 1950s to the 1970s. He is best known for his tableware sets and decorative objects featuring speckled or marbled designs.
Small chips on the rims of two of the cups.
Good overall condition.
Dated to the 1960s.
