Bazille: Large 18th-century Solid Silver Coffee Pot, Montpellier, 1757
Large solid silver coffee pot resting on three "hoof-shaped" feet. Pear-shaped body with a spout encircled halfway up by a threaded ring. Original brown wooden side handle and a finial atop the lid shaped like a split seed. Hallmarks for MONTPELLIER 1756–68, Guild Mark for MONTPELLIER 1757 (letter "F," MPL, and a crown) and the hallmark of Master Silversmith Paul-David BAZILLE, awarded in 1766, although he had already been working alongside his father for several years. Large Louis XV-era coffee pot from Montpellier in very good condition; additionally, it has been restored and cleaned by our goldsmith, featuring a beautiful patina and normal wear marks.
