A Japanese Circular Maki-e Lacquer Box With Fan-shaped Reserves
A refined Japanese circular maki-e lacquer box on a nashiji ground, decorated with three elegant fan-shaped reserves enclosing delicate floral and naturalistic motifs. The panels depict a pine tree at sunrise, flowering cherry branches, and bamboo.
The entire surface is enriched with a finely executed nashiji finish, which lends remarkable depth and luminosity to the lacquer. The interior echoes the same decoration, while the rim is embellished with a delicate gilt ornamental border.
