Japanese Tea Casket in Ebonized Wood with Inlaid Decoration – Meiji Period
Charming Japanese tea casket in ebonized wood, decorated with polychrome inlays depicting a bird among flowering branches. The contrast between the dark ground and the colourful motifs gives the piece a lively and decorative presence.
Inside, the fitted interior reveals a complete set of three small Imari porcelain jars. Two are fitted with stoppers, while the third features a full lid allowing wider access. The decoration, typical of Japanese Imari ware, combines floral and geometric motifs in a rich palette of reds, blues, and greens.
